New Public Library
Brixen is an ancient city known as the artistic and cultural capital of the region. The new library is a contemporary accent and completion of pre-existing structures of buildings, inside the traditional historical centre nearby the cathedral dome. The roof figure with the three gables is sensitively matched to the architectural tradition of the city and the scale of the neighbouring buildings with a traditional walled garden. The modern and the contemporary therefore is not to be found in the pattern of the city but then at the next level, in architectural design, in the facade, in the material and in the details.
